So, I've been active on tribe for about a month now, and I've been trying to find a good quilting tribe the whole time.
The problem is, if you just browse tribe and search for Quilting, it doesn't give you this tribe first. ???!!!
So then you have to go to hobbies & crafts and sort through about 40 screens of crap before you're even in the Q section, and by that time you really have to get back to work before you get in trouble.
I had almost given up. Then I was looking at tribes my friends are in. Ta-Da! Quilting. Named "Quilting" even.
Anyway, new to this tribe. New to Tribe in general. Been quilting for ages. (Ages… I'm 33 and have only been quilting for probably 15 of those.) I'm at the point of quilting where it's just natural to make a baby quilt for new babies, but I'm tired of hearing people gush about how great they look. Yeah, it's a quilt. The kid will lay on it, play on it, eat on it, chew on it, sleep on it, not to mention all the unmentionable things that will happen on it. Does it matter that it looks good? (Yeah, of course it does. Those corners still need to be square.)
My mom says I got her into quilting. But actually she already had all the books. I just opened them up one day when I was bored…

Quilting is addictive, and very very satisfying. Yes, baby quilts get a lot of abuse, but when I start with good materials, they survive. Besides, it feels so good to produce a thing of beauty. Even better that you can share it with your mom.
